The Cleveland Guardians have been highly successful this season, leading the AL Central by a comfortable 5.5-game margin.
Their offense, which was among MLB’s worst last year, is now a top-ten unit by several stats, including runs scored.
Of course, when Steven Kwan is hitting from the leadoff spot and boasting a .380 batting average and a .446 OBP, good things will happen.
The guy has been a hitting machine all year: it’s too sad his hamstring strain took him out for a couple of weeks, because he isn’t a qualified hitter right now.
On Tuesday, Kwan had two doubles and a single, for three hits overall in the victory against the Cincinnati Reds.
It was his eighth three-hit game.
Shockingly, according to Codify Baseball, Kwan has more three-hit games than 0-hit games this season.
Steven Kwan this year:
4-hit games —-> 1
3-hit games —-> 8
2-hit games —-> 9
1-hit games —-> 14
0-hit games —-> 7More 3-hit games than 0-hit games?!? 😮 pic.twitter.com/DNlOwreUPy

Statistically, it’s easier for Kwan to log three hits in the same contest than being shutout, which is amazing and hard to believe at the same time.
Of course, 39 games is not the largest sample, and he should surely log more 0-hit games than three-hit games over a bigger sample, but that doesn’t mean that what he has done isn’t amazing or worthy of admiration.
When it comes to putting the bat on the ball, Kwan is a master of his craft.
Considering he has a .984 OPS for the year and that he is also a bona fide Gold Glove-caliber defender, you can firmly say he is currently one of the most valuable Guardians in 2024.
