The Cleveland Guardians have some of the best prospects in all of baseball right now.
That’s what you have to do when you play in a small market and might not be able to outbid other teams to get superstars.
Notably, that’s also why teams like the Guardians are often so hesitant to pull the trigger and make big trades.
Nevertheless, as much as that makes sense, some people believe it’s time the Guardians get aggressive and make some big moves to propel this team to World Series contention.
That includes MLB analyst Jack O’Rourke.
In the latest edition of “The BIG Factor,” he recalled how the Guardians made the World Series when they got Andrew Miller in return for Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield, both of whom were projected as top-tier prospects at the time.
“Andrew Miller carried you to the World Series, Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield did nothing,” O’Rourke said.
The Guards can't be afraid to trade two top prospects at the deadline. #GuardsBall

O’Rourke continued his case by stating that 80% – or even more – of prospects don’t turn out to be good anyway, so the team shouldn’t be so afraid to pull the trigger and make the moves they need to make to get to the next level.
As he pointed out, neither Sheffield nor Frazier wound up being good MLB players, regardless of the sky-high potential they showcased during their days in the team’s farm system.
The Guardians could certainly use some help, and as much as the fans cherish their valuable prospects, they would most likely be on board with a big move or two.
Then again, given the way the front office usually operates, that just doesn’t seem likely to happen.
