The Cleveland Guardians were finally starting to get healthy.
Or so it seemed, at least: David Fry and Lane Thomas are already playing rehab games, and Shane Bieber is getting close.
They did lose Ben Lively this week, though.
Their minor league system had another injury to report, and it’s the last player you want getting hurt: top prospect Travis Bazzana.
The star second baseman, the No. 1 pick of the 2024 MLB Draft, left a Double-A game on Wednesday with an injury.
“Travis Bazzana left game 2 for Akron this afternoon in the 4th inning after this double. No word on why yet. Vaguely looks like something in the core area, but hard to tell. Left with trainers,” team reporter Justin Lada posted on X.

The Guardians have had some recent bad experiences with core injuries, as Franco Aleman and Chase DeLauter both had surgery to repair injuries in that area in the spring.
Still, it’s all speculation until we get a more concrete report from the organization.
The future face of the Guardians entered the game hitting .250 with four home runs and six stolen bases in 31 games and 142 plate appearances in Akron.
His 129 wRC+ indicates comfortably above-average performance.
It may be just a minor injury, but expect extreme caution from the organization even if it isn’t something serious.
He is, after all, their best prospect and his health is the most important thing at this stage.
If health is on his side, there is a chance Bazzana will make his MLB debut later this season.
That could change with an injury, though.
