The Cleveland Guardians are a well-coached baseball team.
They also have savvy decision-makers on the baseball department, and talented players all over the roster.
It’s no coincidence that they have, at 72-49, the best record in MLB.
On Wednesday, the Guardians swept the Chicago Cubs behind a strong outing by veteran trade acquisition Alex Cobb and now reached five consecutive wins, right after a seven-game losing streak.
This team is tough in every sense of the word.
They are resilient, and won’t let specific circumstances affect them.
That’s part of manager Stephen Vogt’s personality: you have to face adversity, but don’t let it get to you.
Vogt and the Guardians enjoyed a special outing by Cobb.
After last week’s mediocre opening showing, the 36-year-old right-hander delivered a masterful mound performance and led his team’s 6-1 win over the lowly Cubs.
In Vogt’s eyes, Cobb threw one of the biggest games of the year for Cleveland.
“After Alex Cobb threw “one of the biggest outings of the year,” Stephen Vogt praised the veteran and Matthew Boyd for their efficiency on the mound the last two nights. The @CleGuardians skipper also gave props to Gimé and Nick Sandlin for stepping up,” Bally Sports Cleveland tweeted, with Vogt’s remarks.

Cobb pitched 5.2 innings of just one run, conceding three hits and two walks against three strikeouts.
The skipper is ecstatic with Cobb’s game and is happy that he and Boyd have been adapting so well to the rotation.
Because of Shane Bieber’s injury and Triston McKenzie and Logan Allen’s ineffectiveness, the team needs both veterans on the staff right now.
So far, they have both exceeded expectations, but there is more to come.
