If you needed another reminder that Jose Ramirez is still among baseball’s elite, the latest projections just delivered it.
A new set of 2026 projections shared by FanGraphs and highlighted by MLB suggests Ramirez could once again be in the MVP conversation.
The numbers are eye-catching.
Ramirez is projected to hit 29 home runs, drive in 96 RBIs, steal 32 bases, and post a .483 slugging percentage with an .830 OPS. The stolen base total would rank among the top in Major League Baseball, while the power numbers would again put him near the top tier of American League hitters.
“Is another MVP-caliber season on the horizon for J-Ram?” MLB posted.

In other words, business as usual.
For most players, a 29-homer, 30-plus stolen base season would represent a career year. For Ramirez, it’s become the baseline expectation. That consistency is what separates him from most of the league.
He’s not just a power hitter. He’s not just a contact bat. He’s not just a base-stealing threat.
He’s all of it at once.
The projection also reinforces something Guardians fans already know: Ramirez ages differently than most stars. Even as he moves further into his 30s, his game doesn’t rely solely on raw athleticism. His approach, plate discipline, and situational awareness allow him to impact games in multiple ways.
And the stolen base number stands out in particular. Thirty-plus steals from a middle-of-the-order hitter remains rare. That combination of power and speed keeps him firmly in MVP discussions every year.
Of course, projections are just that — projections.
But when the models continue to spit out MVP-caliber production year after year, it’s not random. It’s a reflection of sustained excellence.
For a Guardians team once again leaning on internal development and continuity, having Ramirez anchoring the lineup remains the ultimate advantage. While other clubs search for stars, Cleveland already has one.
If these numbers come close to reality, the 2026 MVP conversation will once again include his name.
And at this point, that shouldn’t surprise anyone.
