The Cleveland Guardians play in the AL Central.
For years, before they sent three teams to the postseason in 2024, the division was highly criticized for being among the worst in the league.
That obviously changed last year, with the Guards, the Detroit Tigers, and the Kansas City Royals all making it to October.
In 2025, however, all five teams in the division (all the aforementioned ones plus the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox) got off to a 2-4 start.
Back then, in early April, MLB insider Jeff Passan posted a picture of the division standings and the following message: “The American League Central, everyone.”

Maybe he didn’t want to prematurely highlight the mediocrity of the division at that moment but instead, its parity; but the weeks passed, and the teams in the AL Central started to play better.
Way better.
Some fans, half-jokingly and half-serious, urged the breaking news artist to update the X post with recent standings.
Hey, most of the teams in the AL Central deserve an update, and the Guardians are clearly among them.
They got one on Friday:

Of course, we didn’t expect less from Passan: it had the same text as the first one a few weeks ago.
Now, there are three squads with at least 20 wins in the division.
The Tigers, Guardians, and Royals are separated by just 2.5 games.
The Twins are close to .500, in fourth place with an 18-20 record.
The White Sox are the only non-competitive team in the Central with a 10-28 mark.
The division is, officially, one of the best in baseball.
And Passan, once again, showed he is firm but fair.
