MLB roster moves continue at a steady pace, and Cal Quantrill has become the latest pitcher to hit the waiver wire.
The Miami Marlins placed the right-hander on outright waivers, opening a 48-hour window for any team to claim him.
The move comes after a challenging season for Quantrill. He posted a 5.50 ERA across 24 starts with Miami, including a particularly rough August where he allowed runs at an 11.25 ERA.
“Marlins RHP Cal Quantrill is on outright waivers, sources tell The Athletic,” Ken Rosenthal shared on X.
Marlins RHP Cal Quantrill is on outright waivers, sources tell @TheAthletic. Owed remainder of $3.5M salary, 5.50 ERA in 24 starts, including 11.25 ERA in three starts in August.

Miami signed Quantrill to a one-year, $3.5 million contract last winter. Any team that claims him would inherit roughly $750,000 remaining on his deal.
For the Marlins, this represents a chance to reset. For Quantrill, it could mean a fresh start elsewhere.
The 29-year-old built his reputation during his time with the Cleveland Guardians after arriving in a 2020 trade.
He quickly established himself as a dependable rotation piece, providing stability during significant roster transitions following the departures of Corey Kluber and Mike Clevinger.
Quantrill delivered his best work from 2021 to 2023 in Cleveland. He went 8-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 2021, then followed with a 15-5 record and 3.38 ERA the next season.
His recent struggles in Miami have overshadowed that previous success. However, Quantrill’s track record in Cleveland demonstrates the impact he can provide when healthy and finding his rhythm.
Several teams could view him as a worthwhile reclamation project given his proven ability to eat innings and contribute to a rotation.
