Jose Ramirez has been making history in Cleveland for over a decade. On Saturday night in Arlington, he added another chapter.
In the fourth inning of the Guardians’ 6-0 shutout win over the Texas Rangers, Ramirez launched his 10th home run of the 2026 season off Jack Leiter. The home run etched Ramirez’s name into the Cleveland record books one more time.
“This is José Ramírez’s 11th season with 10+ home runs, breaking a tie at 10 with Earl Averill for most 10-HR seasons in Cleveland history,” Sarah Langs posted.

Ramirez is batting .242 on the season with 10 home runs, 33 RBI, and a .783 OPS across 244 at bats. The raw numbers do not fully capture what he has meant to this ballclub in 2026. Over his last seven games he is hitting .357 with a .419 OBP and a .750 slugging percentage. He has scored 39 runs on the year and added 23 stolen bases.
The home run off Leiter on Saturday was the kind of moment that defines what Ramirez does best. Cleveland had been scoreless through three innings against a pitcher who went 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in two starts against the Guardians last season. Ramirez stepped in to lead off the fourth and ended that conversation immediately. The leadoff shot set the tone for a four-run fifth inning that broke the game open and handed Tanner Bibee his first win of the season.
That is the Ramirez effect in its purest form. He does not wait for the game to come to him. He changes the game on his terms.
Earl Averill had 10. Jose Ramirez has 11. The record belongs to him now, and knowing Ramirez, it will not stop there.
