Monday wasn’t too kind to the Cleveland Guardians, who had won three out of four against the Detroit Tigers over the weekend.
They lost 7-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the reigning World Series champs, at home on Monday afternoon.
They just couldn’t solve LA’s ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Despite the defeat, opposing pitchers couldn’t keep Guardians star Jose Ramirez at bay.
He entered the game with an 18-game hitting streak, tied for a career-high.
After going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored, he took his streak to 19 games, establishing a new career-best.
He also made history with his two-baggers.

The talented third baseman surpassed Joe Sewell (375) to claim the No. 4 spot on Cleveland’s all-time doubles list.
J-Ram now has 376 doubles and it will be a matter of days, not weeks until he is third on the all-time franchise leaderboard because Earl Averill has 378.
Nap Lajoie is second on the list with 424, which probably means that Ramirez will have a legit shot at surpassing that total next season.
If health is on his side and he remains with the Guardians for a few more seasons, Ramirez has a good chance of becoming the Guardians’ all-time doubles leader, eventually leapfrogging the legendary Tris Speaker’s 486 two-baggers.
Ramirez, who is now hitting .313 with a cool .893 OPS, is already one of the most influential players in Cleveland baseball history, even if he retires today and doesn’t keep advancing in franchise leaderboards.
Of course, we will have the privilege of watching him play ball for at least a few more years, as he doesn’t have any plans to call it quits.
