The Cleveland Guardians, no matter when you read this, need offensive reinforcements.
Their lineup is competent but could use some thump.
Fortunately for them, they have an All-Star-caliber hitter working his way back from a long-term injury in the minor leagues.
After undergoing Tommy John surgery in the offseason, utilityman David Fry has been playing rehab games down in the farm system.
He has spent some time with the Akron RubberDucks, the Guardians’ Double-A affiliate, but is now ready for the next step: Triple-A.
“Cleveland Guardians UTL David Fry has been assigned to Triple-A Columbus this week to continue his rehab assignment. Fry went (1-9) .111 AVG with two RBI and three strikeouts while on assignment at Double-A Akron this past week,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

The results are still not there for Fry to earn a call to Cleveland and start mashing there.
He is still getting familiar with his swing, trying to hit his stride against lesser competition.
A promotion to Triple-A, however, means that he is healthy enough to be tested at the highest level of minor league ball.
It also means that once he gets hot, he will likely find himself in a Guardians uniform again.
He was a true asset for the team last year, earning an All-Star nod and hitting a cool .263/.356/.448 with 14 home runs and a 129 wRC+ in 122 games.
Lord knows Cleveland needs a 129-wRC+ guy in their lineup, as they entered Monday ranked 23rd in baseball with a 94 wRC+.
It might take him another week, maybe a bit more, but Fry is very, very close to returning.
Now, however, he will be expected to start delivering some results.
