The Cleveland Guardians have had to alter their starting pitching plans multiple times this season.
The first blow was losing Shane Bieber for the year after just 12 innings.
Gavin Williams opened the 2024 campaign on the shelf with an elbow injury, and then the team had to demote both Logan Allen and Triston McKenzie due to bad performance.
Allen, in particular, had been extremely disappointing this year after a solid rookie season in 2023.
The Guards have had a rather busy schedule in the last few weeks, and they currently need a starter for Monday’s series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
They have decided to give Allen another shot and will recall him from Triple-A Columbus ahead of the game.
“Logan Allen makes the start for Cleveland Monday, as they welcome Arizona in for a three-game series,” Bally Sports Cleveland tweeted.

The team is coming off two straight losses against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday and Sunday.
They could really use five or six solid innings from Allen, who posted a 3.86 ERA in three starts and 16.1 innings in Triple-A.
The Minnesota Twins are getting closer in the AL Central standings, and they will need Allen and other pitchers to step up if they are going to maintain that 4.5-game lead.
Before that, he had posted a 5.67 ERA in 87.1 frames with Cleveland, allowing too many hits and home runs.
It’s fair to point out that he had a 3.81 ERA in 125.1 innings with the Guardians as a rookie last year, and that’s why he had so many opportunities to open 2024.
He will need to impress in order to retain a rotation spot.
