Tanner Bibee finally got a win to show for his effort Saturday night in Colorado, snapping a four-game losing streak despite a season full of strong outings that had not always been reflected in his record. Speaking with reporters in Denver afterward, Bibee offered some perspective on how he actually views wins and losses, even after a season where his win-loss total has not matched the quality of his starts.
Bibee has received the second-lowest run support of any pitcher in the major leagues with at least 130 innings this season, a statistic that has made his individual record a frequent topic of conversation even as his underlying performance has remained strong. His 16 quality starts entering Saturday were tied for the American League lead, yet he carried a losing record into the Rockies series before finally breaking through with a win behind a three-run homer from Jo Adell. Bibee made clear that the personal accolades matter far less to him than the outcome for the team.
“It’s awesome. I mean, obviously, every time you wanna, you get you get on the mound, you want to have the team win. I feel like I personally don’t necessarily care about like record wins, but if we’re winning the games that I’m starting, like that’s obviously going home a little happier than I was if vice versa, so yeah,” Bibee said.

Bibee’s approach mirrors comments Messick made after his own shutout loss, where he pointed out that the hitting is simply out of his control and all he can do is give the team the best chance to win. Manager Stephen Vogt has consistently praised the professionalism of his starting pitchers throughout the ups and downs of this season, and Bibee’s comments Saturday reinforced why that trust has been earned.
With Cleveland riding a three-game winning streak and pushing closer to the postseason picture, having starters who stay locked in on team success rather than personal statistics could matter even more over the season’s final month. If Bibee and the rest of the rotation keep pitching the way they have, the win total should start catching up to the underlying performance sooner rather than later.
