The Cleveland Guardians have a lot of fun subplots developing in Spring Training this year even though they fell 5-2 to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday to drop back to .500 at 10-10. There is a rotation battle taking place and a handful of young bats fighting for playing time in the regular season, but all we can do is take it one day at a time and watch the pieces fall as they may.
Cleveland has also gotten a few pieces back from the World Baseball Classic such as Travis Bazzana and Stuart Fairchild while Bo Naylor continues to hit big home runs for Team Canada.
It’s tough to keep track of all the Guardians these days, but the fans tuning in every day are certainly seeing some progress.
Mason Horodyski of WEWS shared that the fans looking forward to Cleveland’s game against the Seattle Mariners on March 20th had better delay their evening plans. Due to some extreme heat in the forecast, the game has been moved to 9:05 PM ET.
“The #Guardians spring training game vs Seattle on March 20th now has a first pitch time of 9:05 PM ET due to forecasted extreme heat conditions,” Horodyski wrote.

At least the players will get an early crack at playing a night game. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but some players go through severe day/night splits, so it never hurts to get more reps in Spring Training in different ways to prepare for Opening Day.
By then, the Naylor brothers will be back after Canada lost to USA in the WBC on Friday, so it will be fun to see Bo and Josh face off for old time’s sake. Bo hit a three-run homer in the loss to USA, and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come and he can take the next step in his progression as a hitter in 2026.
With the sweltering Arizona heat picking up, it’s just another sign from above that Opening Day is right around the corner.
This season can’t begin soon enough, and hopefully the team has plenty of sunscreen.
