The Cleveland Guardians are lacking offensive punch.
If you follow the team, you know that’s nothing new.
The outfield has been a particularly worrisome liability, as Nolan Jones and Jhonkensy Noel haven’t been able to hit consistently.
The Guardians recently called up Will Brennan, but he couldn’t do much with his 13 plate appearances and posted a meager .091/.231/.091 slash line.
The Guardians hope the return of Opening Day starter Lane Thomas can be the spark that they need.
“Lane Thomas has been activated off the 10-day IL. Will Brennan (left forearm inflammation) has been placed on the 10-day IL,” Tim Stebbins of MLB.com wrote on X.

The Guardians are putting Thomas, who hit .333 with two home runs in seven rehab games in Triple-A, second in the lineup against the tough Detroit Tigers.
He had a big American League Division Series against the Tigers, with opportune home runs that helped Cleveland reach the ALCS.
The Guardians hope he can regain some of that October magic and translate it to May.
Thomas had been out since mid-April with a bone bruise on his right wrist.
He struggled before being placed on the injured list, but he is now ready to go.
