The Cleveland Guardians weren’t the most talented team by any means.
However, they were the most resilient and one of the most mentally strong.
They usually thrived when it mattered most, and they were at their best when the game was on the line.
That’s why it’s not a surprise to see them listed among the top comeback teams in the American League.
According to Codify Baseball, the Guardians were tied for the fifth-most wins when trailing after six innings last season (8).

The Guardians were never truly out of a game, regardless of the score, the context or the opposition.
They got off to slow starts, but they knew how to exploit opposing bullpens.
That never-say-die attitude proved to be crucial as they overcame a historic in-season deficit to pass the Detroit Tigers and win the AL Central.
It is also an example of manager Stephen Vogt’s in-game adjustments and ability to motivate his players.
More often than not, he made the right move and the right call.
That’s one of the reasons the Guardians are reportedly working to sign Vogt to a contract extension.
He’s about to enter the final season of the three-year contract he received when he was hired, and judging by what he’s been able to do with the hand he’s been given, it’s safe to say that he’s already earned a new deal.
