The Cleveland Guardians are still fighting to stay alive in the playoff race.
They’re doing so with one of the best players in all of baseball leading the way.
Jose Ramirez has established himself as the best third baseman in the game.
As such, it’s not much of a surprise to see that he’s projected to land All-MLB Honors this season, according to MLB analysts Brent Maguire and Theo DeRosa:
“Already in his 13th Major League season, Ramírez has remained as productive as ever. With 25 home runs and 35 stolen bases, the 32-year-old isn’t too far off his 39-homer, 41-steal pace from 2024. He has been the anchor of the Guardians offense year in and year out as well as one of the most talented hitters in the Major Leagues. With 56.4 career WAR, Ramírez is on a Hall of Fame trajectory, especially with a few more years like this one,” per MLB analysts Maguire and DeRosa.
Ramirez went through a bit of a slump two weeks ago, but, just as expected, it didn’t take long before he got right back on track and back to his usual level.
While not the most outspoken or talked-about player, Ramirez has routinely been among the fWAR leaders in the American League for the best part of a decade, constantly trailing only Aaron Judge in that regard.
He doesn’t get the credit he deserves, perhaps because of the fact that he plays for a small-market team.
Even so, there’s absolutely no doubt that he’s en route to becoming a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is a lot to say, considering the often unrealistic standards of voters.
More than that, he has a legitimate chance to go down as the franchise leader in multiple categories and, as such, as the greatest player in the history of Cleveland baseball, even if he doesn’t lead them to a World Series.
Still, he will definitely have more opportunities to do so, as he’s not getting any younger, but he’s shown no signs of slowing down, either.
