The Cleveland Guardians need everybody to be on the same page and help the team get to the finish line.
Their ‘next man up’ mentality will be crucial to take care of business when it matters most.
Notably, that was instrumental in their playoff-clinching win over the Texas Rangers.
As pointed out by Guardians Prospective on X, young OF Johnathan Rodriguez came through when the team was in big need of a huge performance.
Subbing in for the injured David Fry, Rodriguez reached base three times.
He had two hits (including one run), one run, 2 RBIs, and one walk in the playoff-clinching walk-off win.

David Fry avoided surgery, but he will still be out for a while with a “minimally displaced left-sided facial and nasal fractures.”
The designated hitter had an up-and-down season, but given his pedigree as a hitter, he was still expected to have a prominent role in his team’s postseason run.
Now, they will need Rodriguez to do some of the heavy lifting, although he won’t be the only one having to step up to make up for the loss of the veteran designated hitter.
Of course, that’s a bridge Stephen Vogt and company will have to cross once they get there.
The first order of business will be to secure another win over the Texas Rangers in the regular-season finale to clinch the division and get home-field advantage early on.
Then, they can worry about everything else, including Fry’s injury.
