Late in 2022, former MLB outfielder Will Venable was hired by the Texas Rangers to be an associate manager alongside veteran manager Bruce Bochy.
Venable has been highly regarded by MLB front offices since he decided to start his career as a coach with the Chicago Cubs in 2018.
Teams see a bright future clubhouse leader in him, with extensive baseball knowledge and a good grasp on analytic concepts.
The Rangers are deep in the postseason this year, about to start their journey in their first Championship Series since 2011, and Venable has been a big part of that success.
MLB teams, of course, are very much interested in making him their next manager, and one of those teams were the Cleveland Guardians.
Venable, however, looks set to remain with the Rangers according to recent reports.
“NEWS: Will Venable, Rangers associate manager, has been contacted by multiple @MLB teams regarding their managerial openings, but he’s told those clubs that he’s staying with Texas. This is a significant development. Venable, 40, is highly regarded in the industry,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

It looks like Venable wants to keep learning as much from Bochy as he can.
Then, there is a chance that, if Bochy retires soon, Venable takes over in Texas.
In any case, it looks like the Guardians might have to look elsewhere to replace Terry Francona.
After one of the most successful managerial stints in franchise history, the organization will carefully select the right candidate to give themselves a chance to return to the postseason in 2024 and beyond.
