With about two weeks to go before Opening Day, teams around MLB are putting the finishing touches on their rosters as they continue to evaluate what they’re seeing in Spring Training. The Cleveland Guardians are no different and still have a lot to figure out over these next few weeks as they still have a rotation battle going as well as a flurry of young outfielders battling to crack the Opening Day lineup.
The Guardians checked a minor box on Wednesday on the financial side of things, which won’t generate headlines, but is absolutely something that has to be done before the season gets going. Cleveland had a quiet offseason by not handing out any big contracts, but the team did have to pony up some cash on Wednesday.
Mason Horodyski of WEWS shared on X that the Guardians have officially agreed to one-year deals with all 30 of their pre-arbitration players. A significant portion of the roster is involved in this transaction, and it’s just nice to see that it all went forward without any hiccups and everyone will be taken care of financially.
“The Guardians announce that they have agreed to one year contracts with all 30 of their pre-arbitration-eligible players. There were no renewals,” Horodyski posted on X.
The players include:
Chase DeLauter, Brayan Rocchio, Kyle Manzardo, Gavin Williams, Angel Martinez, Bo Naylor, George Valera, Hunter Gaddis, Logan Allen, Slade Cecconi, Daniel Espino, Juan Brito, Angel Genao, CJ Kayfus, Petey Halpin, Parker Messick, Doug Nikhazy, Joey Cantillo, Cade Smith, Tim Herrin, Erik Sabrowski, Andrew Walters, Peyton Pallette, Austin Peterson, Franco Aleman, Gabriel Arias, Daniel Schneemann, Johnathan Rodriguez, Yorman Gomez and Kahlil Watson.

Most of these players are being relied upon to be substantial parts of the team in 2026, and if any of them take a step forward, it would be nice to see the front office get some of these guys locked into extensions. There is a lot of young talent on this team and it’s clear the Guardians don’t plan to be big spenders on the open market, so it’s critical to keep some of these players in Cleveland as long as possible and pay them before they become stars.
It’s anybody’s guess how this season is going to go, and everybody has their predictions. Hopefully when all the dust settles, Cleveland will uncover some young stars this season and can win the AL Central for a third consecutive season.
