The Cleveland Guardians have been scuffling since the All-Star break largely due to the disappointing offensive output. In an effort to light a fire under the team, top prospect Angel Genao was called up a week ago and has been seeing regular playing time around the infield ever since.
It took him no time at all to look comfortable as Genao racked up four hits in his debut, which still wasn’t enough as the Guardians lost 6-5 to the New York Mets. Overall, he has a .981 OPS through his first 19 at-bats and is now already getting a commemorative bobblehead to honor his historic debut.
FOCO recently announced that Genao’s bobblehead is available for preorder. The bobblehead is specifically designed to commemorate his four-hit debut, and Guardians fans can’t get their hands on this quick enough.

The 22-year-old is Cleveland’s consensus No. 2 prospect behind Ralphy Velazquez and he earned his promotion to the big leagues without question. Finding a spot for him in a crowded infield featuring Jose Ramirez, Brayan Rocchio, and Travis Bazzana hasn’t been the easiest thing for manager Stephen Vogt, but he is getting creative in making sure nobody is slighted.
Genao posted an .875 OPS in the minors this season and did even better after getting promoted to Triple-A Columbus, raking to the tune of an .889 OPS across 72 games. His impressive eye, diminutive stature, sneaky power, and ability to hit from both sides of the plate look a lot like another certain Guardian who now has another exciting young talent to take under his wing.
Nobody expects Genao to turn into Jose Ramirez’s heir, but the similarities are fun. Hopefully, this is the first of many bobbleheads for him and that Guardians fans buy all of these up quickly. Get your preorders in now!
