The Cleveland Guardians clinched their playoff spot, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to play for on Sunday.
If anything, the regular-season finale will be one of the most crucial games of the season.
With that in mind, Stephen Vogt will send one of his most reliable guys to the mound.
As reported by team insider Zack Meisel on X, the Guardians have already made a decision about their starting pitcher for the final game of the regular season:
“Logan Allen will start for the Guardians on Sunday,” Meisel posted on X.

That’s great news for the Guardians, but not so much for the Texas Rangers.
The left-handed pitcher has logged a 2.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts and a 1.06 WHIP over three starts in September.
He’s currently playing his best baseball of the season, and facing a Rangers team that has literally nothing to play for in the final game of the regular season, he should be more than able to take care of business on Sunday.
That also means that Vogt and the Guardians will save Gavin Williams for their first playoff game.
The Guardians will play on Tuesday, and they could either host the Detroit Tigers or the Boston Red Sox.
They could also be on the road against the Tigers if they lose on Sunday and Detroit wins.
Given the way A.J. Hinch’s team has played, the Guardians should feel quite confident ahead of that postseason matchup.
Still, they can’t rest on their laurels, and they need to keep their foot on the gas.
