To say that this has been a rollercoaster of a season for the Cleveland Guardians would be a massive understatement.
This team has been through far more challenges than the average team, and there were numerous instances in which they could’ve thrown in the towel.
Instead, they weathered the storm over and over, and they kept pushing until the very end.
That’s why it was only right that they clinched a postseason ticket in the most dramatic fashion.
As pointed out by MLB insider Sarah Langs on X, the Guardians made history on Sunday night:
“The Guardians are the first team in at least the live-ball era (1920) to win via walk-off hit-by-pitch on the day they clinched a playoff spot,” Langs posted on X.

This was, of course, a fitting ending to one of the most exciting, drama-filled, and emotional seasons in recent franchise history.
We’re talking about a team that looked lost and had no chance of making the playoffs just a couple of months ago.
Granted, the Detroit Tigers’ major collapse is also a subject of study, and they played a huge part in helping Stephen Vogt’s team get to this point.
The Guardians never stopped fighting and pushing, and even when they were at risk of blowing their late-season lead, they were unbothered by the high stakes and the bright lights.
Of course, they still have to get through the finish line, and they have to win one more game to secure a divisional title.
But after all they’ve been through, they have to feel great about their chances against every single team they have to face,
