To say the Cleveland Guardians have had a horrible week would be an understatement.
After winning two out of three in Kansas City to open the year last week, the Guards lost Monday and Tuesday’s games against the San Diego Padres.
They played the finale on Wednesday and also dropped it 5-2.

Cleveland is now 2-4 on the young season.
The offensive woes that became evident this week persisted on Wednesday.
They did log eight hits, but walked just once and scored their first run in the seventh frame when they were already down four runs.
Starting pitcher Ben Lively couldn’t replicate his Opening Day success and conceded four runs in 4.1 innings of work, taking the loss for Cleveland.
He surrendered seven hits and walked two.
Essentially, the Padres series exposed two potential weaknesses in the Guardians: starting pitching and offense.
Yes, their bullpen is still dominant and among the best in the league, but Cleveland just hasn’t been able to hand over a lead to it this week.
It doesn’t help that they played a superior team that should contend for big things this year.
The Guardians are supposed to be in that stage, too, but have had a really rough week.
Nobody will write them off after six games, but they are flawed and need to take action where it’s required.
Some of the problems just require some patience, but the team did make a gamble or two on offense and in the rotation.
It’s still early, but Cleveland hasn’t looked good and needs to show something to the fans.
This team can’t wait for the homestand to start on April 8th.
