The Cleveland Guardians continue to play their best baseball of the season.
A lot of that has to do with their bullpen.
As pointed out by John Sabol of Fox 8 News, they dominated the New York Mets by retiring their final 14 hitters in a recent win.
More importantly, the bullpen has been the best in the American League since July 1, boasting a 2.47 ERA.
#Guardians’ bullpen was lights out in Queens! They retired the final 14 consecutive batters in the Guards’ 3-2 win over the #Mets. 🔥

That’s even more impressive if you consider the fact that Emmanuel Clase hasn’t been available.
The All-Star closer has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave.
He’s part of an MLB sports gambling investigation, as is pitcher Luis L. Ortiz, and things aren’t looking promising for either of them.
Not having one of the best closers in baseball would be a lethal blow to any team, and the Guardians are still not in the clear.
But so far, Cade Smith, Hunter Gaddis and Nic Enright have emerged and done an outstanding job.
The Guardians struggled mightily a couple of months ago, and it looked like they were ready to fall out of Wild Card contention.
Fast forward to today, and they’re still alive and could be a legitimate dark horse to come out of the American League.
If their bullpen continues to dominate this way, they have a legitimate chance to take down anybody they face, even if Clase can’t suit up again this season.
