The Cleveland Guardians don’t have that much power in their lineup.
They’ve struggled to generate runs for the past couple of years, but that might change in the future.
That’s if their best prospects continue their current trajectory.
That should be the case with first baseman Ralphy Velazquez.
As pointed out by Justin Lada of Locked On Guardians, the 20-year-old has been on a roll since July 1.
His slash line is .319/.390/.532 with a 10.5 percent walk rate and a 15.2 percent strikeout rate.

He’s hit five homers with six doubles during that span.
The Guardians selected Velazquez as a catcher, taking him with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
He was a late bloomer who went under the radar for most of his high school days.
The Guardians loved his offensive potential and helped him transition to first base last season, and despite not having that much experience at the position, he’s currently the No. 9 prospect in the farm system.
Though not the most athletic player or fastest runner, he is a force to be reckoned with at the plate.
Velazquez is projected to make the majors in 2027, so he will have more than enough time to work on his game and keep polishing his technique.
Hopefully, he will stay healthy and continue on this path, as the Guardians could certainly use a couple of sluggers on team-friendly contracts.
