The Cleveland Guardians’ offense was brutal throughout the first half of the season, which led to a 10-game losing streak before the All-Star break.
They have turned the corner by taking advantage of a soft schedule over the past few weeks, and a big reason has been the promotion of C.J. Kayfus, who has impressed since making his MLB debut on Aug. 2.
Former Cleveland infielder Carlos Baerga recently had plenty of praise for the outfielder/first baseman.
“I never thought that he’d look so comfortable in the big leagues,” Baerga said.
Carlos LOVES what he's seeing from CJ Kayfus. #GuardsBall

In 11 games, Kayfus has three doubles, one home run, six RBIs and a .709 OPS while splitting time between right field and first base.
Fans had been clamoring for the Guardians to call up a prospect or two throughout as the offense continued to fall flat.
Kayfus answered the bell, and with how poorly some of the veterans on the team have performed, there is no question that he will get plenty of at-bats down the stretch.
It will be a test for a rookie to be thrown into the thick of a playoff chase, as the Guardians are just one-half game behind the New York Yankees in the AL Wild Card race.
