The Cleveland Guardians have some concerns about Travis Bazzana.
The No. 1 pick and superstar prospect was excelling in the minors before a right internal oblique strain took him off the field.
He’s expected to miss the next eight weeks at least.
Notably, that’s why team legend Carlos Baerga expressed his concerns about the situation, as he hoped that Bazzana would get called up at some point this season, and the Guardians could certainly use his talent.
“Very big setback because we were thinking about after [Andres] Gimenez got traded from the organization. I know Daniel Schneemann is really good, but Travis Bazzana is our first-round [pick] last year. This is a special player. I think he’s No. 12 in the minor leagues. I believe he’s going to be OK, but he’s just going to take some time,” Baerga said.

The Australian star hasn’t played for a couple of weeks, and he’s reportedly looking at a possible 10-week absence.
That might mean he won’t get called up before the end of the season, though a player like him usually gets the nod near the end of his first full pro campaign.
The Oregon State product has looked solid at Double-A Akron.
He’s slashing .252/.362/.433 with four home runs in 149 plate appearances, wowing with his unique blend of contact and power.
His 26.2 percent strikeout rate is a little worrisome, but he was starting to catch fire, slashing .279/.392/.512 in May.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has turned to utility man Schneemann as his primary option at second base this season.
He has been solid in his second MLB season, slashing .246/.336/.466 in 135 plate appearances.
Then again, as good as Bazzana is, and as much versatility as he provides, he is clearly in the upper echelon of prospects and was expected to get the bulk of the work at second base at some point.
