The Cleveland Guardians don’t have a lot of holes to fill on their roster this offseason outside of the starting rotation as the entire lineup is under contract through at least 2025.
It’s easier to have financial flexibility going into free agency when your best players are on reasonable deals, and that’s exactly what the Guardians have with All-Star outfielder Steven Kwan, who is headed into his first of three arbitration seasons after making just $757,600 in 2024.
Guardians’ President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti appeared on MLB Tonight this week to heap praise upon his star outfielder and said that he is a vital part of the team given his ability to see a lot of pitches and get on base, while also pointing out how much better he got by adding power this year and still remaining one of the best defenders in the league at his position.

Kwan’s style of play is a lost art and a breath of fresh air, and Antonetti is completely right with his assessment of his star outfielder.
He has only been in the bigs for three years, but he is already an indispensable part of this team and did everything he could to get this team its first World Series in nearly 80 years by hitting .381 in the postseason.
Any question marks surrounding this team and its future do not include Kwan, as he is the leadoff hitter and left-fielder and there is no reason to believe otherwise for a long time.
