The 2026-2027 offseason is upon us, and it’s time to start discussing potential moves for the Cleveland Guardians. This team could see some shakeups this offseason with a few pending free agents heading into the winter.
One of the biggest free agent names for the Guardians is starting pitcher Foster Griffin. Reporter Jon Heyman recently released signing predictions for the top 30 free agents.
Griffin is projected to land a deal worth $25 million during this offseason.
“Jon Heyman’s top free agents and contract predictions: 25. Foster Griffin 2/$25M,” Crory posted.

The Guardians acquired Griffin in August in a trade with the Washington Nationals. In exchange for Griffin, the Guardians sent four minor league prospects over to Washington. Griffin was having a fantastic first half of the season and was expected to be a major factor in the Guardians’ playoff push.
In 22 starts with Washington, Griffin posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 116/30 K/BB ratio. He completely fell apart on the mound once he joined the Guardians roster. Across nine starts, Griffin posted a 5.19 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and a 42/15 K/BB ratio in Cleveland. He had very little success in Cleveland, so we’ll see if that is going to impact his value in free agency.
Overall, it was still a strong season for Griffin, who finished with a 3.60 ERA on the year. The 31-year-old earned his first All-Star appearance of his career. This was a great comeback story for Griffin, who hadn’t thrown a pitch in the big leagues since 2022 before returning to the Nationals this past season.
Now, it’s time for the Guardians to decide if they actually want to bring Griffin back for 2027. The Guardians already have Gavin Williams, Parker Messick, and Tanner Bibee likely locked into the starting rotation next season.
The Guardians could look elsewhere for help, given Griffin really struggled in Cleveland. The projected deal of $25 million over two years seems fair for Griffin.
The front office will have a big decision to make this offseason.
