A hamstring injury took a few weeks off Steven Kwan’s season, so the Cleveland Guardians leadoff hitter does not qualify for the batting average lead as we speak.
If he did, not only he would be the leader in the category, but he would enjoy quite a cushion, too.
The talented Kwan is having an amazing season to this point, hitting a marvelous .380/.446/.538.
The people over at StatMuse MLB showed just how dominant Kwan has been this year when it comes to batting average.
“Steven Kwan is hitting .380 this season. No one else with 150+ at-bats is hitting .330 or better,” they tweeted.

The man who is leading the batting race in MLB, Luis Arraez of the San Diego Padres, is at .327 as of Wednesday afternoon.
Maybe Kwan can accumulate enough at-bats to qualify for the batting title at some point.
If that happens, he is a major favorite to win the recognition.
Kwan has always been seen as a contact master and a plate-discipline star, but he is taking things to the next level this season.
If he were a qualified hitter, that .446 on-base percentage (OBP) would rank him first in MLB, too, ahead of dominant hitters such as Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.
Kwan, to this point, has walked more (17 times) than he has struck out (14).
He also has a whopping 60 hits in just 39 games, which is an amazing ratio.
With Kwan at the top of the lineup, the Guardians offense flows naturally: he is usually on base for the big-time producers like Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, and David Fry.
