The Cleveland Guardians’ season is officially over.
However, it wasn’t all bad.
As disappointing as the final outcome was, there were plenty of positive things to say about this team this season.
With that in mind, team analyst Gabrielle Goudy dug deep into the tape and the numbers to share some positive numbers about Stephen Vogt’s team.
Talking on the Carlos Baerga Show, she pointed out something quite notable about the team’s catchers:
“I saw a very impressive stat for our Cleveland Guardians catchers. They have the second-least amount of passed balls. The only team that has less, Seattle Mariners,” Goudy said.

That’s remarkable.
More than that, it also goes to show that Bo Naylor might be a better player than some of his detractors claimed he was.
He struggled with some defensive miscues at times, but he closed out the year on a high note.
More than that, he also made some crucial adjustments at the plate to be a steady contributor to the offense, especially down the stretch.
The Guardians need as much help on offense as they can get.
And while Naylor is no Salvador Perez, he showed that he can also be a factor with his bat when the team needed him the most.
As for Austin Hedges, that’s just not going to happen at this point in his career.
He is who he is at this point, and chances are that we’re not going to see him take much of a leap as a batter in the foreseeable future.
Still, he might be one of the best defensive backstops in the entire league, and you need to have those types of guys on your team.
