The Cleveland Guardians have always taken pride in their farm system.
As such, it only makes sense that they continue to dig deep to find the most promising talents out there.
According to a report by Guardians Prospective on X, the Guardians are keeping an eye on young shortstop prospect John Cruz.

They’re reportedly the favorites to sign the Santo Domingo native.
He’s currently training with Rivas Y Ventura Academy in his native Dominican Republic.
However, it’s worth noting that he won’t be eligible to sign with any team until the 1/15/27 International Signing Day.
Of course, that also means that a lot can happen, both good and bad, but barring a shocking turn of events or a major injury, he should be the next in line to join a long list of elite middle-infielder prospects in the Guardians’ all-time ranks.
The Guardians have a long history of finding and developing middle infielders with a knack for contact and strong defensive play, so they might be the perfect organization for Cruz’s talents.
They’ve seemingly changed their strategy and are pivoting towards power-hitters and slugging outfielders, but it will be a long time before we see the results of this new approach to their development system.
It’s quite difficult to predict how any player will turn out at the next level, and most of the prospects don’t even make their way to the majors.
Hopefully, once it’s all said and done, we’ll look back on this day and celebrate Cruz’s strong career.
