The Cleveland Guardians continued their Cactus League journey on Tuesday and faced the defending World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
To be fair, Spring Training standings don’t really matter much, but these games often leave us interesting storylines to analyze.
In this case, Tuesday’s affair was the perfect platform for top Guardians prospect Travis Bazzana to show off his underrated power.
With the Guardians down 2-0 in the second inning, Bazzana caught an Edgardo Henriguez’s pitch in a 1-0 count and sent it to the stands, 423 feet into the Arizona sun.
“Travis Bazzana, hello,” Cleveland Guardians wrote.

Bazzana entered the game hitless in six Cactus League plate appearances, but made his presence felt emphatically on Tuesday, even if the Dodgers later took control of the game.
The top pick of the 2024 MLB Draft, Bazzana has a very good chance of playing in the big leagues this year and helping the Guardians.
In fact, it’s not out of the question that he breaks camp with the team, but he will need to make a very good impression to force Cleveland’s hand this spring.
Last year, the second baseman hit nine home runs and put up a 137 wRC+ in 374 plate appearances between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, adding 12 stolen bases for good measure.
Bazzana is, for all intents and purposes, the Guardians’ second baseman of the future, and that could start as soon as 2026.
If he keeps posting a wRC+ in the 130s with power and speed, not calling him up at some point this season would be organizational negligence.
Cleveland hopes Bazzana is the missing piece that changes the outlook of a stagnant, often unproductive offense.
If the team is patient and is willing to let him struggle, adjust, and learn to hit the best pitchers in the world, big things could be in store for the Australian infielder in 2026.
He is definitely someone to watch, and Tuesday’s impressive dinger is another reminder of that.
Bazzana is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting prospects in the entire league.
If they are serious about their World Series aspirations, this guy needs to be at second base no later than June.
