The Cleveland Guardians have one of the most productive farm systems in baseball. It is a vital part of the plan for a franchise that is reluctant to spend big money on established veteran players.
Several top prospects have contributed over the past two seasons as the Guardians have won back-to-back AL Central titles. In addition, several more may be ready to make an impact in the near future, including Khal Stephen.
The organization’s top pitching prospect recently made a big personal announcement.
“Congratulations to Cleveland #Guardians RHP prospect Khal Stephen on his engagement,” Guardians Prospective wrote.

MLB.com lists Stephen as the No. 6 overall prospect for the Guardians. He is behind infielder Travis Bazzana, outfielder Chase DeLauter, shortstop Angel Genao, catcher Cooper Ingle, and outfielder Jaison Chourio.
The 22-year-old right-hander was a second-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and was the centerpiece of the trade that sent former Guardians ace Shane Bieber to the AL rivals before last season’s deadline.
In 2025, Stephen worked his way up to Double-A, ending the season with Akron. Overall, with four teams, he was 9-2 with a 2.53 ERA.
He potentially could be part of a future rotation built around young starters Gavin Williams, Slade Cecconi and Joey Cantillo. Each of them contributed to the Guardians’ historic rally to the division title last season and may have established themselves as fixtures for the next few years.
With the Guardians not yet making a notable offseason move to improve their offense, they will again have to rely on the strength of their pitching staff to remain contenders in the American League.
