The first phase of the 2024 MLB All-Star Game voting is now finished, and three members of the Cleveland Guardians roster are moving on the Phase 2.
Third baseman Jose Ramirez and left fielder Steven Kwan will opt for a place in the American League’s starting lineup for the Midsummer Classic, to be played in Arlington, Texas, on July 16.
The Guardians also announced that closer Emmanuel Clase is joining them in the next stage.
“Our finalists, and the best closer in baseball, ride into Phase 2 beginning Sunday at noon,” they tweeted.

The second stage in the fan voting process will start on Sunday, with the top two finishers at each position in Phase 1 competing to see who starts.
Ramirez is a veteran in these situations, having been one of the best and most consistent players in the American League for nearly a decade.
Clase is a two-time All-Star, and it would be the first time for Kwan.
Ramirez, who has a brilliant .278/.332/.539 line with 21 home runs, 72 RBI and a .872 OPS, will compete with Baltimore Orioles’ young third baseman Jordan Westburg to start at the hot corner.
Kwan has a tough path towards a starting gig given the fact he is competing with fan favorites Juan Soto and Kyle Tucker, plus Anthony Santander, for two spots (Aaron Judge, as the leading vote-getter in the junior circuit, already claimed one).
Josh Naylor and David Fry couldn’t make it out of the first phase.
Fans will be able to vote in Phase 2 from Sunday noon until Wednesday noon, both ET.
