The Cleveland Guardians were in need of a big performance from Tanner Bibee on the mound yesterday, and they got it in the form of six innings of two-run ball that set the pace for a much-needed 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals that also moved Bibee to 7-2 on the season.
Cleveland had lost three in a row prior to last night and was in danger of losing significant ground in the AL Central race to the Royals if it let them win a third consecutive game to open this series, and after the game, Bibee opened up about his performance.
Bibee described the performance as a “figure-it-out kinda day” and added that “I really don’t think I made many bad pitches but they were just putting balls in play and lately that hasn’t been the case.”
"Today was a figure-it-out kinda day."

Bibee also stressed the importance of adjusting on the fly and added that if he can do that, there’s no reason for him not to pitch well every game.
He gave up a run in each of the first two innings before settling in and throwing up four zeroes to get through six innings with the lead, and he gave his offense time to finally get going and bring him a win.
The offense had been struggling after scoring just six runs over the previous three games, but it was able to cook in the 4th and 5th innings behind some big hits from Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, and Jhonkensy Noel.
The Guardians will look to tie the series up on Sunday and earn a split with KC.
