The Cleveland Guardians continue to roll.
They’re riding high when it matters most, and that includes some big wins over a contending team like the New York Mets.
Of course, plenty of that has had to do with Jose Ramirez’s stellar play.
Following their latest win, fellow All-Star Steven Kwan praised his superstar teammate for an overlooked ability.
“He’s the best baserunner in baseball,” Kwan said.
Ramirez usually flies under the radar, but he’s established himself as one of the best players in the game.
He has a legitimate case to go down as the greatest player in franchise history, as he ranks in the top five in multiple categories.
He recently climbed to the No. 3 spot in games played, and he’s on track to become Cleveland’s all-time leader next season.
He has 23 home runs this season to go along with 61 RBIs and 32 stolen bases, while boasting a .296 batting average.
Those are MVP-caliber numbers, although he’s not among the favorites to take home the award.
The Guardians are still alive in the AL Wild Card race, which is something that seemed impossible back in June.
It will take a collective effort to keep the momentum going and close out the season on a high note, but with Ramirez playing at such a superlative level, they have to like their chances against every team they face.
