The Cleveland Guardians were eliminated from the 2024 postseason on Saturday after losing to the New York Yankees in game five of the American League Championship Series.
With a final score of five to two, the Guardians lost the series four to one and the Yankees have advanced to the World Series.
Many emotional Guardians players were interviewed following the postseason exit, and Steven Kwan had an honest admission regarding the series against the Yankees.
“Because we were so close in all those games, it made it sting a little bit more,” Kwan said.

Kwan was a bright spot for the Guardians the entire postseason where he had solid performances against both the Detroit Tigers and the Yankees.
In the American League Division Series against the Tigers, Kwan had 11 hits in 21 at-bats with 6 runs scored.
In the American League Championship Series against the Yankees, Kwan had five hits in 21 at-bats with four runs scored and two runs batted in.
The solid postseason performance for Kwan followed a solid regular season for the Guardians.
In 2024, Kwan batted .292 with 14 home runs, 44 runs batted in, and a .793 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Kwan described how close this team was including spending time with each other because they wanted to and not because they had to.
Along with his teammates, Kwan praised first-year Manager Stephen Vogt and described how he truly believed in all of the players and gave them the confidence to succeed.
The Guardians will look to replicate their American League Central title as they prepare for the 2025 season.
