The Cleveland Guardians made a big gamble when they hired Stephen Vogt as their manager.
While he was well-respected around the game, he didn’t have any managerial experience.
Now, as pointed out by analyst Dollar Dog Nick, Vogt’s impact in Cleveland has been evident.
In fact, he has a better record than Terry Francona had after his first 310 games with the organization.
The Guardians are 170-140 under Vogt the past two seasons, and they were 169-141 with Francona in 2013-14.

Vogt took over after Francona retired, inheriting a team that showed potential but fell under .500 one year after winning the AL Central.
A former All-Star catcher, Vogt started his managerial career shortly after his 10 seasons as a player.
Last season, the Guardians made it all the way to the ALCS, which they lost to the New York Yankees.
This season, they struggled to find consistency, but Vogt kept the team fighting hard despite their shortcomings at the plate and some long losing streaks.
The way he’s weathered the storm speaks volumes about his character and his ability to motivate his players.
Even if the Guardians fail to make the playoffs, he’s proven to be the right choice as their manager.
