The Cleveland Guardians have a strong rotation and bullpen.
They also have arguably the best third baseman in baseball, Jose Ramirez.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been enough to reach the World Series.
They need to get better at the plate, as displayed by their batting average leaders after the All-Star break this season.
Ramirez led them at .267, followed by Steven Kwan (.256) and Kyle Manzardo (.254).

That’s far from ideal, and the Guardians need to address it this offseason.
They somehow managed to make it back to the playoffs, but a lot of that had to do with a forgiving schedule to close out the campaign.
Also, the Detroit Tigers’ epic collapse helped the Guardians snatch the AL Central division title out of their hands.
Cleveland was so desperate for offense down the stretch that it actually had a rookie make his major league debut in the AL Wild Card round.
Outfielder Chase DeLauter became just the sixth player in MLB history to debut in the postseason, with manager Stephen Vogt admitting that they needed his offensive skills.
Now, the team will most likely turn to DeLauter and fellow rookies George Valera and C.J. Kayfus for more offense going forward.
While they have the potential to be stars, it might take a while for them to develop at this point in their careers.
