The Cleveland Guardians have a plethora of young talent.
More than that, they have a player who’s usually at his best in the biggest moments.
As shown by Tim Stebbins on X, Gabriel Arias excels with runners in scoring position, leading the team in batting average and slugging percentage and second in OBP and RBIs.
Entering today, here were Gabriel Arias' stats with RISP
.338 average (first on team)
.418 OBP (second)
.554 SLG (first)
34 RBI (tied for second with Ramírez)— Tim Stebbins (@tim_stebbins) August 14, 2025
Arias showed it again on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins.
The Guardians gave up four runs in the top of the first inning, but Steven Kwan got a run back for Cleveland.
Then in the fourth inning, with runners on second and third and two outs, Arias connected on the ninth pitch of a well-fought at-bat.
He hit a three-run, game-tying homer to left field.
Though the Guardians lost 13-4, Arias showed why he can be trusted to deliver with runners on base.
In 16 games since he returned from the injured list in late July, Arias is 15-for-58 with three home runs, 12 RBIs, five runs scored and one stolen base.
Overall, he’s slashed .236/.290/.393 with 43 RBIs, 33 runs scored, nine home runs and four stolen bases in 342 plate appearances.
Arias might not be the flashiest player in the lineup, but he’s someone who rises to the occasion when the stakes are high.
With the Guardians having no margin for error going forward, they’re going to need someone like him.
