The Cleveland Guardians picked up another huge win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night, securing a series win on the heels of a five-game losing skid.
At the center of it was the team’s ace, Shane Bieber, who gave the bullpen a much-needed reprieve, going eight innings and allowing just one run while striking out seven batters.
With his seven strikeouts, Bieber reached the all-important milestone of 800 career strikeouts, joining pitchers such as Tim Lincecum, Dwight Gooden, Hideo Nomo, and Yu Darvish on a list of the fastest pitchers to 800 strikeouts.
Bieber is second on the list, having taken 108 starts to reach the milestone.
Darvish is the leader, having taken 99 starts to reach it.

Bieber Reaches Important Strikeout Milestone
The Guardians bullpen desperately needed a little break after it was used extensively on Monday night, and Bieber was able to give them that much-needed break.
With his dominance, he improved his record to 9-8 and lowered his ERA to 2.96.
But he’s been a strikeout machine ever since he came to the big leagues, and it didn’t take him all that long to reach 800 for his career.
This is quite an accomplishment for Bieber, who first came up to the Major Leagues back in 2018.
He’s been an ace ever since and last night he reached an all-important mark, becoming the second-fastest pitcher to record 800 strikeouts.
With Bieber’s dominance, the Guardians put a little bit of distance between themselves and the Minnesota Twins, who were rained out in New York last night.
The Guardians are going to need Bieber at his best for the stretch run if they hope to capture the AL Central title.
