The Cleveland Guardians dropped Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Monday after winning the first one over the weekend.
They got to the ninth inning with a scoreless tie, but Emmanuel Clase shockingly gave up a three-run home run and lost the game for the Guardians.
Much has been said and written about the blown save and the fact he allowed three runs in one game when he had conceded five in the entire regular season, but the offense also deserves some of the blame.
There was an interesting discussion in 92.3 The Fan about the Guardians and their chances to win the series now that it will move to Detroit for the next two games.
Bottom line: there is optimism that they can still get the job done.
“The Cleveland #Guardians, on paper, are the best team in the American League. There’s no reason to believe they won’t respond tomorrow,” broadcaster/reporter John Fanta said in his call to the radio program.

Fanta believes the Guardians are still the gold standard in the junior circuit, and there is a lot of evidence to back that claim.
They finished second in the league in wins in the regular season, they have an underrated rotation full of men instead of names, they have the best and deepest bullpen in MLB, and their offense is capable of much more than what they showed on Monday.
As long as they avoid facing Tarik Skubal again in the series, the Guardians have a chance to finish the job in Detroit.
It won’t be easy, but they have the pieces to make it happen.
