Josh Naylor got off to a hot start to the season but cooled off considerably just before the calendar turned to May, but last night he was able to snap out of it in emphatic fashion in the Cleveland Guardians’ 13-7 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Naylor went 2-for-4 and slugged two homers while driving in five runs, also throwing in a walk for good measure.
His second homer was the icing on the cake for the Guardians in the form of a 438-foot, 3-run blast in the top of the 8th inning to put the game out of reach.

Naylor had just one homer and two RBI over his previous ten games and had struck out eight times in his previous five games while going 0-for-14 over the holiday weekend.
He needed a big game badly and hopefully, this is a sign of things to come ahead of this easy stretch of games the Guardians have coming up.
Naylor is on pace for 44 homers and 118 RBI, which would easily be a career year in the power department, but he has to get that batting average back up to his normal standards as he is still hitting just .234 after his recent skid.
All is well in Cleveland so far and the team is cruising with a 37-18 record while it is slated to get Steven Kwan back from his hamstring injury this week.
It’s shocking after hitting .308 last year that Naylor could go three weeks without a multi-hit game, but he got two massive hits last night that will hopefully get him rolling again.
