The Cleveland Guardians continue to make noise in the American League.
They might not be as impressive and consistent as last year (not yet, at least), but their 33-27 record currently makes them a Wild Card team, and with Shane Bieber healthy for the second half, in theory, anything can happen.
Once again, All-Star infielder Jose Ramirez is providing most of the offensive production on the squad.
He is putting up some impressive numbers, good enough to flirt with some historic names through 60 team games.
“Through 60 team games, José Ramírez has a .327 AVG, 11 HR & 16 SB. The only players with better numbers thru 60 team games in MLB history are: • Ronald Acuña Jr. (2023) • Chris Sabo (1990) • Joe Morgan (1976) • Bobby Bonds (1973),” researcher Luke Potosky posted on X.

Those are some elite players who have left their mark in the league at different times and eras.
Ramirez might not be playing on the same impressive power pace he did last year when he hit 39 home runs, but the numbers are impressive nonetheless, even the power output.
Only four players have had at least those numbers through 60 team contests, and that means Ramirez is doing something right.
His bat-to-ball skills are better than ever, as evidenced by his elevated batting average.
That .327 mark would be the best of his career over a long season if he manages to maintain it, and he is on pace to flirt with a 30-40 season.
Of course, everyone is impressed with what he is doing, but no one is really surprised.
Ramirez, like a good wine, is getting better with age and the numbers agree with that statement.
