The Cleveland Guardians are Jose Ramirez’s team.
At this point, there is no doubt about that.
The 32-year-old is still capable of being a top ten player in MLB and came up just short of a 40-40 season last year, finishing with 39 home runs and 41 stolen bases.
Knowing Ramirez, his primary goal is to win the World Series with the Guardians.
He sacrificed money to sign in Cleveland long-term and loves the city, his teammates, and the organization.
But he has personal goals, too.
He would love to get that 40-40 campaign, and who wouldn’t?
Only six players in the history of the game have achieved it.
But he is also “determined” to win a particular defensive award for the first time.
“Ramírez has taken a lot of pride in improving his defense to match the skills that he obviously brings to the team with his bat and on the bases. He’s determined to add his first Gold Glove to his sparkling résumé. He’ll also be looking to pick up his fourth Silver Slugger in the past six seasons,” team insider Mandy Bell wrote for MLB.com.
J-Ram was a Gold Glove finalist in 2024 when he posted six Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and three Outs Above Average (OAA).
He was bested by Alex Bregman, though.
In 2025, the talented infielder will give it another go and try to win the Gold Glove for the first time.
Ramirez is famous for his bat and speed, but defensive contributions have also been steady throughout his career and actually keep his WAR (Wins Above Replacement) output in the elite.
Will 2025 be the year for him?
