Jose Ramirez carried the Cleveland Guardians in 2024.
There is no better way to say it: among position players, he was the best and most consistent on the team and, once again, one of the elite performers league-wide.
He was nominated for the Gold Glove award, he won his fifth career Silver Slugger, and he got another honor on Thursday night.
“José Ramírez is a First Team All-MLB third baseman for the first time in his career,” MLB Network posted on X.

It’s hard to believe that one of the most consistent stars of the last decade hadn’t received a First Team All-MLB recognition to this point, but that’s exactly the case: it’s the first time for J-Ram.
It’s fair to point out that it is a relatively young recognition, since 2019.
The First Team All-MLB means Ramirez was the top third baseman in the entire league.
The honor is determined by a fan vote and a panel consisting of media members, former players, and baseball officials.
It was hard to overlook Ramirez, though, as it has happened numerous times during his career.
This time, he took his game to the next level and flirted with a 40-40 campaign.
He finished with 39 round-trippers and 41 stolen bases, adding 114 runs scored, 118 RBI, and a .872 OPS.
Not bad for a 32-year-old competing in a league in which many of the stars are between 20 and 26 or 27 years old.
Next up for Ramirez is an MVP award and a World Series title.
2024 won’t be the year for any of those goals, but given how well he played this year and the fact he seems to be still in his prime, anything is possible for 2025.
