The Cleveland Guardians might not have a lot of power on their roster.
However, they have a true stud at third base.
Jose Ramirez is aging like a fine wine, and now that he’s coming off a spectacular season, we can only expect him to keep his foot on the gas this upcoming campaign.
He finished just one home run shy of joining the 40/40 club.
With that in mind, MLB analyst Sarah Langs believes he could make history in 2025:
“Ramírez is projected for 30 home runs and 31 stolen bases. He’s already the only player in Cleveland history with multiple 30-homer, 30-SB seasons, and would now be up to three. Ramírez is one of two third basemen with multiple 30-30 seasons, and his third would tie Howard Johnson for most at the position,” Langs said.
Ramirez sacrificed some contact but had more power last season, and his numbers were more than good.
He led all players in his position in runs (114), RBIs (118), stolen bases (41), and home runs (39) last season, and that’s no small feat.
He was absolutely lethal against Southpaws, hitting .348 in 164 at-bats.
The Guardians lost two key contributors and clubhouse leaders in the offseason, so the 32-year-old will face even more pressure and expectations.
He’s the kind of player who’s going to strike out a lot, but he’s also going to take plenty of walks.
Certainly, it’s always challenging to make projections for a player based on his prior seasons, as many things can go wrong over the course of a full campaign.
But barring a shocking turn of events or a major injury, there’s no reason to believe Ramirez won’t be as solid and reliable as he’s always been.
