Cleveland Guardians star third baseman Jose Ramirez finished fifth in the American League MVP award voting earlier this week.
With the numbers he had, he could have easily been the most valuable player in any other year.
Aaron Judge, however, hit 58 home runs and posted a 1.159 OPS.
There was no way he lost the award, and the other two finalists, Bobby Witt Jr. and Juan Soto, also had historic campaigns.
Ramirez has never won an MVP, but he has come awfully close in more than one occasion.
He is actually consistently great, and that’s what separates him from the rest.
MLB insider Jon Morosi revealed an incredible fact that proves how Ramirez is right there among the league’s best year after year.
“José Ramírez has finished among the top 6 in league MVP voting on six occasions — the same number of times as Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. Ramírez is 32. Betts is 32. Freeman is 35. They will all be in Cooperstown one day,” he posted on X.

Ramirez has 255 home runs and 243 stolen bases.
He also has a career 129 wRC+ and 51.5 fWAR at 32.
Yes, his best seasons are probably behind him, but he should have more highly productive years ahead still.
The Guardians have every reason to be excited about his Hall of Fame prospects one day.
Right now, we can say he is already a future member of the Guardians Hall of Fame.
He is also well on his way to Cooperstown if he can keep this up for a few more years.
He is arguably the most well-rounded Guardian in history.
