The Cleveland Guardians have several players in winter ball this year.
It’s a perfect way for them to keep themselves in shape in a competitive environment.
Infielder Gabriel Arias is one of their players getting some reps in Caribbean leagues.
He is playing for Tiburones de La Guaira in the Venezuelan Winter League.
In his debut on Saturday, he went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored.
On Sunday, he was excellent again and added four more hits and a spectacular defensive play.
“Cleveland #Guardians (SS) Gabriel Arias had another huge game in the @LVBP_Oficial for his club @Tiburonesbbc_ collecting four hits (4-5 2R 3(2B) 3RBI) including three doubles while driving in three more runs. He also made a spectacular play on defense at shortstop. Arias now has 5 XBH and 5 RBI’s over his first two games in the Venezuelan Winter League,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

Arias is now 7-for-9 in his still young LVBP (Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional) stint, with four doubles, a homer, five RBI and a .778 batting average.
Not bad.
Arias couldn’t keep his spot on the roster and was demoted by the Guardians in the summer.
Something changed at that point, as he hit .317/.360/.545 with six home runs, 11 stolen bases and a 130 wRC+ in 43 games.
The truth is that Arias has done everything in his power to regain a spot on the Guardians ever since he was demoted.
He looks better and more dangerous at the plate, and the results are there to see.
If he can show he can consistently hit the baseball and produce positive results, he could have an important role in the 2025 Guards.
